Toonino is a studio for grown-ups who make story videos and picture books for children. This page says what we keep about you, what happens to the photos and stories you bring, and who helps us run the site.

In short

  • Accounts are for adults. Children do not sign up.
  • A photo you add (a child, a pet, a place, a drawing) is used only for the drawing, the story or the clip you asked for. It is not stored on our servers.
  • We do not sell your data and we show no advertising.
  • The only cookie we set is the one that keeps you signed in.

Who we are

Toonino is run by the team behind it. The legal name and the address of the company that runs it will be listed here as soon as its registration is complete.

For anything on this page, write to hello@toonino.com.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email address, and a password that our account provider keeps only in a scrambled form that cannot be read back. Also when you signed up and when you last signed in.
  • What you make: your story ideas, the scripts, the names and descriptions of your characters and places, your settings, what you write to the studio inside a project, and the files the studio makes for you (drawings, voice recordings, music, clips, finished videos and book pages).
  • Your credits: how many you have, and a list of what was spent or added and for which kind of work.
  • Technical records: the company that hosts the site keeps short-lived records of requests (the address of your connection, the time, the page that was asked for). They are used to keep the site running and safe.

We do not ask for a child’s date of birth, address, school or any identity document. A child’s first name is on our servers only when you type it into a story.

Photos and pictures you add

You can add a picture in several places: to draw a character or a place from it, to make a book from your photos, to show the studio a drawing or a document, or to bring one picture to life as a clip.

  • The picture is kept in the browser of your own device.
  • It is sent to our server only together with the one request that needs it, and passed on to the AI model that does that piece of work.
  • We do not save it on our servers and we do not write it into any record.
  • What is saved is the result: the drawing, the story or the clip that was made from it.

Before a picture is sent we ask you to confirm that it is yours to use, and that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child in it. Photographs of real people are not turned into clips.

To remove a picture, take it off the character, place or page in the studio, or clear this site’s data in your browser.

How your stories are made

Writing, drawing, voices, music and animation are done by AI models. To do a piece of work, we send the words it needs (and a picture, when you added one for it) through OpenRouter, a service that passes requests on to the companies that run the models, such as Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, ByteDance, Kuaishou, Alibaba and Runway. Which of them is used depends on the work and on the models you choose.

We send them only what the piece of work needs. We never send your email address or anything else about your account. They handle what they receive under their own terms.

We do not use your stories, pictures or photos to train AI models.

Who helps us run the site

  • Supabase keeps the accounts, the database (your projects, your library, your credits) and your files. The files are in a private store: they can be reached only through our site, by the account they belong to.
  • Vercel runs the site itself.
  • OpenRouter and the model companies named above do the AI work.
  • Cloudflare answers for the site’s address on the internet.

These companies may handle data in countries other than yours, among them the United States and countries of the European Union.

Paid plans cannot be bought yet. When they can, a payment company will handle the card details; we will not see or store card numbers, and this page will say so before the first payment is possible.

Cookies and your browser

We set one kind of cookie: the one that keeps you signed in. We use no advertising cookies, no tracking and, today, no visitor statistics service.

The studio also keeps things in your browser’s own storage, so that it is quick and so that photos stay with you: your projects and library as you last saw them, the photos you added, and a note that you agreed to how added pictures are used.

Why we use it

  • To give you the service you signed up for: your account, your studio, your files and your credits.
  • To write to you about your account: confirming your email address, resetting a password, and important changes to the service.
  • To keep the site safe and to stop misuse.
  • To meet a legal duty, when there is one.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and what you make are kept until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
  • A project you delete disappears from your account at once. Files that belonged to it may stay in our private store for a time after that; write to us and we remove them straight away, and they are removed when your account is deleted.
  • The host’s technical records are kept for the short time the host sets.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we keep about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Write to hello@toonino.com from the email address of your account; we answer within 30 days.

If you think we handled your data wrongly, you can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.

Children

The site is made for adults, not for children, and we do not knowingly keep an account for anyone under 18. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we delete the account.

Keeping it safe

The site is reached over an encrypted connection, files are private to their account, and the AI work can be asked for only by someone who is signed in. No system is perfectly safe, so please also keep your own copies of the videos and books you care about.

Changes to this page

When what we do changes, this page changes with it and gets a new date. If a change matters for you, we tell you by email first.
